Fencing, Honeysuckle, and Ogre Stew

The first thing we saw when we walked out the door on that perfect spring evening--a ladybug resting in the shade of the salvia.

The misty rain we had all weekend brought honeysuckle bursting forth between the wild blackberry brambles.  The kids were thrilled, particularly Elizabeth who was asking me just last week if we could buy honeysuckle seeds.

Paulie decided they should each only enjoy a few buds so as to not decimate the honeysuckle population on the first night.

The spring rains also brought lawn mushrooms,

which Elizabeth eagerly harvested,

to make "ogre stew".

Apparently I spent a little too long photographing the ogre stew,
for when I turned my head,
fencing with reeds had commenced in the neighbor's yard.

The last stop before returning to the house,
checking out the vibrant blue color
creeping ever higher into my hydrangea blooms.

  2. What a beautiful day. Honeysuckle IS the best flower to suck nectar from (right up there with red clover). Love the ogre stew, something my girls would do! And the fencing with reeds....how fun!

  5. I was going to ask if you could eat those mushrooms when I saw them, because I have those in my yard, but maybe not...unless you're an ogre. ;)

  7. Love the ogre stew~! Our neighbor had all the honeysuckle from between our yards chopped out last year to put up a fence. I'm missing their beauty.
