today...butterflies, fairies, and locavores

We made balancing butterflies today which turned out to be a fun, quick little project for my older kids. We printed out several different butterfly coloring sheets, then colored them, glued the printer paper to construction paper, and cut out both sheets along the butterfly's shape.

Next we glued pennies to the bottom of the butterfly near the top of the wings.

And the butterflies came to land!

Isn't Paulie's monarch beautiful?

We also enjoyed the cooler damp weather in our part of the country. And a fairy flew by!

I'm starting to think that I should rename "Saturday lunch" to "locavore lunch" since the last 2-3 times have not happened on Saturday. Either way we enjoyed our baked beans, corn on the cob, sliced cucumbers and fresh peaches with day-old sourdough made into garlic toast "'with a great deal of butter on it' like Mercy Watson", says Finn. Delicious!
