Just in time for St. Patrick's Day later this week, we've had some visitors come to play with us. These leprechauns don't seem to be the tricky kind; they just want to have some fun.
They've been taking in the clover, bringing some luck to the 4-leaf hunting, and generally making merry in the yard.
So we invited them in to stay a while. All of the kids have had fun playing with these new little friends. I might have to see if I can find a few more hiding in the lawn before St. Patty's Day!
The last I saw them, the were heading toward the table. They must have caught a whiff of our special St. Patrick's Day dessert...
Maybe these leprechauns are a little trickier than I thought!
We'll have to eat our way across the rainbow before they get the chance!
The rainbow cake is a regular yellow cake. (I loosely followed this recipe, with less sugar and half whole wheat pastry flour.) The frosting is a cup of whipping cream, beat with a cup of powdered sugar and a sprinkle of vanilla. The rainbow fruits are, in order of appearance, strawberries, mandarin oranges, pineapple, kiwi, blueberries, blackberries with a pretzel pot of gold and golden bananas.
Have a lovely week celebrating St. Patrick!
Aw, I love the cake! You are so creative and fun!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, looks so good! Can I come over? Love the little leprechauns. They are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThat is all so precious-- I love the cake!
ReplyDeleteAlways so amazed at your creativity! Love, love, love the leprechans and the cake. I really need to sharpen my knitting skills. I would love to be able to have cute traditions like this with my little ones. We might have to do a mini-version of the rainbow cake though. :) I would love it if you offered an apprenticeship!! :) :)
ReplyDeleteJoy, that cake is absolutely fantastic and the leprechauns are adorable beyond words! I actually had forgotten that St. Patrick's Day is coming up. We've never celebrated it much, but I feel so compelled to after reading this post:). Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLove those crafty leprechans and the wonderful and healthy rainbow they shone for you!
