spring in the gardens

I couldn't be more happy that spring is here. I truly enjoy each season as it comes, but there's something particularly special about spring. The awakening of the earth that happens in spring that can make you feel so alive and in the moment with everything that is happening around you. To celebrate and usher the new season this weekend, we took a few minutes to visit one of the most popular gardens in our area, Reynolda Gardens. The gardens, and the house and art museum, are a beautiful sight to behold in any season, but the blooming trees and blossoming flowers of early spring, especially the heels of being cooped in the house, are truly the perfect celebration of spring.

We ended our visit with a short hike around the lake behind the Reynolda House. Finn couldn't get enough of sitting by the water, watching for ducks and throwing small sticks in the water. I couldn't get enough of short sleeves, 70 degrees, warm sunshine, and emerging greenery in the forest. Welcome spring! We can't wait to see what else you have in store for us!

  3. Great blooms. You take better photos than ones on the garden's website! They should hire you!

  4. When I saw that Japanese Magnolia I had to find out where you live. We're in North Florida - our magnolia bloomed and sprouted leaves nearly a month ago now, but your photos remind me of some of the areas around here. (:

(The photo of that stone bridge/wall is *stunning!*)
