Yarn Along and a Christmas sweater

For this week's Yarn Along I'm still working on Inconceivable, which is in turn a heart-breaking and soul-encouraging read. I'm about halfway through and completely enthralled with the journey of this family who made such a sacrifice.

I also started working on this sweet textured sweater for a friend's new little one. The pattern is the Fred Textured Sweater from Natural Knits for Babies and Moms, and the yarn is Swish DK in Carnation from Knit Picks. I think this soft, washable yarn will make the perfect winter sweater for a 6 month old sweet girl.

And Finn's Christmas sweater, that I just began last week, I finished after only 4 days. I really enjoyed working on this sweater and made a size 6 so hopefully we'll get 2 winters of use from it. (In chunky yarn and size 10 needles, it went so quickly!)

He was impish, of course, about having a photo shoot in his new sweater, but he really loves his new red Christmas sweater.

It's hard to believe its only been 2 years since I knit my first sweater, also for Finn, and now he has his fourth mama-knit sweater. A little boy who has a Christmas birthday needs a special sweater to wear each year (and also for Christmas pictures which is why he received it now instead of waiting until his actual birthday.)

  4. Oh! That red sweater is so sweet on him with lots of room to grow too. (a good thing since you spent all that time knitting it - it'll get lots of use). And the textured sweater is such a beautiful color.

  6. I love the shade of red you chose! It is quite cheerful but not overly bright. The little sweater you are knitting has a fantastic stitch pattern!
